Before you proceed to fill out the form, ensure you meet the following eligibility requirements as of the cutoff date mentioned in the notification.

SSC Stenographer 2026 Selection Process

The selection process is divided into two major stages. Unlike many other SSC exams, there is no Tier 2 written exam; instead, the skill test is the deciding factor.

1. Computer Based Examination (CBT):

The online exam consists of objective-type multiple-choice questions. The subjects included are:

  • General Intelligence and Reasoning (50 Questions)
  • General Awareness (50 Questions)
  • English Language and Comprehension (100 Questions)
  • Total Marks: 200. Duration: 2 Hours.

Please note that there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

2. Skill Test in Stenography:

Candidates who clear the CBT cutoff will be called for the Skill Test. This test is qualifying in nature.

  • For Grade C: Dictation at 100 words per minute (wpm).
  • For Grade D: Dictation at 80 words per minute (wpm).

Candidates will have to transcribe the dictation on a computer within the specified time limit.
